hi i’m alex paisley and i’m charlotte louise page we have competed in dog showing all over the uk including our crafts we’ve also had the honor of judging a variety of reads at all levels dog sharing is where your dog is judged against breed standard it outlines how your dog should look move and behave when you’re ready to start dog showing here’s a few things you need to know [Music] firstly you need to have a pedigree dog they will also need to be registered on the canal club’s breed register it is important to train and socialize your dogs in different environments as it will build their confidence get them used to being stood in one position being assessed by a variety of people as they would in the show ring research your dogs bree standard as this will help you understand what the judge is looking for finally and most importantly build a strong relationship with your dog showing is all about teamwork we are now going to talk to you about ring craft training this is where you will learn how to show your dog depending on your dog’s breathe your trainer will show you how to present them in the correct way in the show ring your dog can be stacked which means the handler places the dog’s feet into the correct position or free stood where the handler has trained the dog to stand on their own without contact both of these can be taught at your local ring craft club and practiced at home once in the correct position a judge will judge your dog in accordance to their breed standard this is hard to show your dog on a table this is how to present to your dog on the floor and a number of breeds are presented on a ramp in the ring the judge will also ask you to move your dog in a variety of ways the triangle allows the judge to see the rear side and front movement of your dog the circle provides the judge with the opportunity to view the side movement of the dog the straight up and down allows the judge to see the front and the rear movement of your dog when you and your dog are ready to enter your first dog show you need to make sure that you pre-enter the classes you wish for them to compete in to prepare for the show your dog will need to be groomed correctly and on the day ensure you’re both well presented at the show your dog will be judged against their breed standard those dogs closest to it will receive awards the most prestigious championship show in the uk is crush which is organised by the kennel club we are now going to take you through a typical journey of a championship show first your dog will need to compete in the appropriate bree class for example puppy junior postgraduate limit and open the winners of these classes will then go forward to best dog and best winners of best dog and best will then compete for best of breed the best of breed winners will then compete in the group there are seven groups gundog toy utility terrier hound pastoral and working these will then compete to win best in show and reserve best in show we’ve taken you through the basics of dog showing it’s now time for you to find your local kennel club registered ring craft club don’t forget there’s lots more advice on the kennel club’s website including how to qualify for crafts that’s it from us check out the kenner club social media channels to watch more videos good luck …
