Does residential dog training (boarding and training) work? – Diary of a reactive dog

hi everybody i hope you are well a subscriber asked me the other day does residential dog training work well that’s based on a few variables so sometimes it’ll work sometimes it won’t and i thought this video we could dissect those variables of why it would and why it wouldn’t so if you watch any of my videos you’ll probably know my ideas are always to boost the dog’s confidence in us as their leaders in their environment and what they should be doing and if a dog had 10 out of 10 confidence in the illness leaders 10 out of 10 confidence in their environment are you other dogs and 10 out of 10 confidence of what they should be doing we’d have zero behavioral problems therefore all problem behavior bar health comes from a lack of confidence in one two but usually three of those areas but a problem with residential training is i’m not boosting dante’s confidence in his owner as a leader so problems can happen there and that’s why i’m a little bit worried about giving him back however the theory behind what i’m doing is is to boost his confidence so much in his environment to the point he’s relaxed with all dogs boost his confidence so much in what he should be doing that by the time i give him back to his owner that even if she’s getting it a little bit wrong he doesn’t completely regress but of course naturally i’m actually going to work with the owner as well and make sure she’s doing as much as possible but the problem is when i was working with dante in london he just wasn’t listening to anybody apart from me um so that’s why i ended up taking him to the countryside and doing all this so there’s my answers really does residential training work you may have seen my video with the german shepherd dog jazz so many people ask me you know did the behavior carry on well actually jazz was continued to be confident with other dogs she continued to be okay with a door however because the leadership wasn’t quite there she actually regressed in another area and she started barking at night time and i think that was because the stress the still thinking she’s in charge just popped out in another area so in an ideal world it is the owner that does this every time but the world isn’t ideal and i don’t actually see any other way that the owner would have got this result so hopefully that’s clear on my ideas of does residential training work and as we continue to follow dante’s journey we’ll really see if this does work or not so i hope you found that video useful if you did please press the like button also subscribe if you haven’t maybe leave me a comment in the comment section below and i hope to see you on the next video and the new series will hopefully be coming out soon thanks for watching bye for now [Music] you …
