all right hello folks oh I already got a bunch of you on here awesome um hi I’m Laura you should know that I guess if you’re on this channel um and I wanted to talk a little bit about service dog stuff today I don’t have headphones so can everyone hear me okay I know there’s like birds and stuff so hopefully that’s not annoying um so I’m here today with uh I got cool chilling I got Mr Jakers over there in my lawn that is currently a meadow because my lawn mow were broke so I gotta get one of those this weekend but um yeah so today I want to talk about some service dog stuff I also want to talk about um a discount that I just made live um so let’s um yeah hi Valerie from Kentucky yeah so if everyone could just post in the chat where you’re from um you know if you’re a service dog person if you’re thinking about getting a service dog just like a little bit about um you so I can see where everyone is tuning in from I’m tuning in from Connecticut right now uh and it is a Beau unseasonably beautiful afternoon okay I’m like shaking this and that’s probably very annoying but also I move Tennessee guide and service dog hendler awesome and I see I already have some questions so I’ll get to those after everyone checks in hey Courtney aita and Porter love you guys uh Marilyn hi Steve Kelly hi Taylor Iowa first time Handler awesome Anna from I am not gonna try even try to butcher that name in Washington um all right we got Tennessee three-month old puppy awesome simmer Wisconsin California Portugal okay that’s the furthest so far you’re you’re winning on that one uh South Dakota Arizona Indiana Florida Houston awesome more Florida love that well thank you all for tuning in all right you already have a bunch of questions on here so I am going to get started and I will do my best um as always I will always tell you if I know the answer or if there’s someone who can better answer the question um because I am not some like all knowing being I know some things and there’s other people that are better at knowing things and I think it’s really important when you’re looking at dog trainers of any sort for people to understand their limitations and their Specialties so I have Specialties other people have Specialties I’ll always try to direct you to the people that might be better at something than I am um all right let’s see who makes a good Mobility counterbalance harness for a body sensitive Labrador um when I looking at harnesses really the company that I have the most experience with is bold lead design I know there’s a lot of independent sellers out there um but bold lead is really my go-to for asking things about um harnesses however all harnesses that are going to be Mobility harnesses are somewhat heavy so I may be you know more interested in starting and working with your Labrador on feeling more comfortable in harnesses in general um before putting them into a Mobility harness um so checking out my video on shaping um an autoload into the harness can be helpful sometimes um being letting you know putting your dog in a harness and letting them go out and play with their friends I know that’s counterintuitive a lot of people will only use harnesses to signify work but for dogs that are body sensitive sometimes we can associate the harness with play and that can help um the dog overcome some of their body sensitivity um okay so how much Public Access training per week should a service dog in training receive under a year old that really depends on the dog um however and it also depends on your proximity like so logistically like how close are you to be able to do these things um but generally I’m looking at going um you know say the dog is somewhere between you know on the upper end of under a year old um two three four times a week but we’re talking short trips um and especially going to places that they have been successful at in the past and rehearsing behaviors that they already know at home so when we’re talking about dogs that are under a year we’re really all about building confidence and it we don’t have to be going into stores to do Public Access either we can train outside of stores we can train in open air especially this time of year there are so many wonderful outdoor opportunities for your dog you know there’s concerts outside there’s fairs and festivals and there’s just like I I don’t know where yall live but you know there’s a lot of outdoor activities that you can do with your dog that you can work on your training I would wouldn’t Focus so much on public access I’d be working on building their ability to be around distractions and those distractions don’t necessarily mean in a store for instance so yeah going to a lot of variety of locations working around distractions that’s what I’d be doing um three to four times a week if you can but that also for some dogs that’s a lot you know and for some people that’s also a lot so you have to kind of Base it on your dog and your situation um ideally more than once a week to get just the that you need in under your belt now all that being said if your dog hits a fear period pull everything back go to the woods spend two weeks in the woods just doing dog stuff um and not exposing them to um things that could be triggering during that more sensitive period all right how could you get into training service dogs for other people without an organization so that’s that’s kind of a toughy I actually have an entire like 45 maybe more minute presentation over on patreon about what I would do if I wanted to get into training service dogs right now and for me apprenticing under someone is really important having a mentor is really really important um because you can learn a lot from books and you can learn a lot from programs and learning from other people but the Hands-On portion of learning how to train service dogs is so important and you’re not going to get that from just training your own service dog so whether that means you’re borrowing other people’s dogs to practice with um but really if you can learning under a bunch of people there’s not a I don’t see a huge way around that um and if you don’t have access to learning under other people about service dogs specifically going to a school that’s local where you can just get your hands on a bunch of dogs because that’s really it it’s like when you’re trying to build your confidence around training dogs and training service dogs the more times that you see a problem and then have someone to bounce ideas off of and talk through situations the better because then you’ll start having a repertoire of behaviors that you’re like oh I saw that um so like recently I had um one of my patreon folks one of my top fan folks they asked about um something that was happening with their dog and I’m not going to go into it because I’m actually going to do a little bit of a case study on it over on patreon but uh they asked a question and because I’ve seen that behavior before I’m like off the top of my head I’ve got four different things that we can try to fix the problem but we don’t have that without me seeing that happen 20 other times with other dogs um so trying to get and and when I started like when I I didn’t so fun fact about me I didn’t have a dog growing up I wasn’t allowed to have a dog as a kid um and so I tried to learn on other animals and I volunteered at the Humane Society I spent a lot of time volunteering at the Humane Society get to get my hands on lots of dogs they have training programs in a lot of these organizations um just getting hands on dogs and then bringing in the educational component so learning from a bunch of different trainers and if you have to kind of Cobble that together uh between different organization you know checking out um what Atlas assistance dogs had to offer Donna Hills courses are awesome uh Cooperative pause you know I have a couple courses but I’m working on doing more of those but I’m not the you know I don’t have a whole repertoire of things at the moment um but seeing how other trainers are training things and then practice practice practicing those things on different dogs all right let’s see what else uh okay okay so how would you oh no it skipped around on me all right so I lost it okay this one is from Anna wake me up tasks uh for not wanting to get up and face the day so um this person has a they are struggling to get out of bed so this would be an alarm task for me so teaching a dog to basically respond to an alarm um I have a 10-part series of doing that with medication ret Reve the concept is incredibly similar um in that we’re teaching the dog a specific like all of task train I don’t want to say all of a lot of task training is just what is the que for the dog and what is the dog’s response to the queue and that’s the there’s there’s the que and there’s this response and then you just plug in the variable so the variable here is okay I want the dog to do a specific thing at the alarm all right so first I’m going to teach what I want the dog to do so say I want the dog to pull the covers off of me you know you have to figure out what’s going to work for you to get out of bed it could be they bring you a leash it could be that they pull the covers off of you it could be that they put two paws on your chest jump on your you know jump on you whatever um that is specific to your disability and your needs and then we teach that behavior so say pulling the covers back so I’m going to teach my dog to take something in their mouth I’m going to teach them to pull it pull back the covers and only when the dog understands the behavior do we then pair it with the Q which would be the alarm and when we’re talking about queuing so this is the part that’s really important so the dog needs to have the solid behavior and now we need to what’s called transfer the que so if previously say you had taught the dog to pull the covers off and the behavior the cue for that was pull so I’m going to teach them to pull the covers off um now I’m just going to transfer the que and when we’re transferring a que it goes New Q old q and then Behavior so in that case it would be alarm goes off give the dog the pull q and then the dog does the behavior you Mark and reinforce and pretty soon the dog will be like oh every time the alarm goes off she tells me to do this Behavior pull the covers off so when the alarm goes off I should just pull right and then they make that Q transfer you Mark and reinforce for it um and then you practice so hopefully that gives you some ideas um service dog tests that can lower blood pressure I I know I get a ton of questions on blood pressure and heart rate and they aren’t my specialty unfortunately um you know anecdotally um deep pressure therapy can help with some people with this um but I don’t want to give you advice about this this particular thing because it’s not my specialty I would talk to your um healthc care professional to see if they have some things that might help or talk to someone who does a lot of blood pressure stuff uh I believe F wild dogs I believe they do some of that type of stuff so check out their account um oh Serenity Springer thinking about getting a service dog all right I’m moving on I’m moving on how to make sure you don’t over uh how to how to make sure you don’t overs socialize a puppy okay so I think that probably um has to do with how you Define socialization because when I’m socializing a dog what what that makes me think is that you have a dog that maybe you’re thinking might be too excited about seeing people or too excited about seeing um different uh dogs right but to me when I socialize an animal it’s not about meeting and greeting everything that they see and in fact most of the time it’s about observing those things from a distance and not meeting and greeting them so for me a lot of my socialization happens from a distance watching behaviors and then the the interactions they’re going to have with people are a lot more um um what’s the word that I’m thinking of like more controlled at first so that they don’t have a bad reaction so they I they I don’t put them in a situation that’s bad so my socialization with other dogs is going to look very different than observing dogs on a trail so I’m never letting you know some there’s a lot of different thoughts on this but for me if my dog is unleash they’re never going up to another dog and greeting them because they’ll never get to do that as a service dog they’re going to get their plads met with other dogs when I’m out hiking when I’m in a field when I have friends over um so I don’t have to worry too much about overs socializing in that regard or a dog becoming hyper social because of what I’m doing um because they’re not seeing greeting as part of the context of being out and and doing work hopefully that makes sense so you want to socialize and even with people right um I’ll occasionally let people greet my puppy on leash just so they’re not weird about it but most of the time they’re passing people like the majority of what I am doing is like especially like I have trails around here my dogs walk on all the time is we’re passing people and ignoring them and what that gets me is a dog that is Young and has no context for greeting people on the trail so they just walk by right then I’m going to structure other socialization events where I’m going to have a friend over who is really tall or wears a puffy jacket or puts on a weird hat um so I’m getting those other parts of the socialization that I need and maybe my dog is going to greet that person but I’ve run into too many people that behave absurdly around dogs for me to potentially scare my puppy to have them greet multiple people um out in public so I’m more structured I as a trainer go to class classes I do that on purpose um because it gives me a captive audience to do socialization activities around too um a lot of places will have like group walks too or Group Training out out and about those are the type of places that I’m going to use for socialization um versus random people that I meet on the street generally um okay I’m training my dog to be a service animal he’s 60 pounds how do I train him to fit in the foot area under the play and help thank you yes so um this is all about teaching a tuck so I have flown with 90 PB dogs in a regular seat on a plane and I’ve done it a lot of times 90 pound German Shepherds uh and basically the way that works is their butt is gonna go under so like they’re facing you and their butt goes under but we wanted a 60 pound dog no problem uh so we want to teach him to tuck the way that I personally like to teach to tuck is either to use a um suitcase or an Amazon box that’s the correct size and start slowly making the Box smaller so I’ll teach them to curl up so down in that small area um and then I’ll put it on Q um tipping the hip I have a video called uh three three tips for a better stay or something like that and it shows how I train a tip a hip tip um so I want to teach them to tip their hip and then I want to teach them to curl up in a small box and then I progressively make that smaller um and then put them in situations where they have to tuck small before I think about going on a plane and y’all if you are enjoying this can you go down and hit that like button for me it helps other people find this and it helps people see this after the fact so that can also get the answers um so I’m going to take a break here and just talk quickly about the um the discount yeah um so that if yall need to go or whatever that you know what’s going on so basically um as y’all know I have a patreon oh thank you all for the likes I really appreciate it you guys wow very positively reinforcing I appreciate that a lot um so I have a patreon my goal with my patreon is to it’s twofold it’s one I want to have resources that are available to people that are a little bit more in depth than what I can provide on YouTube because YouTube is a very specific algorithm and how videos do and all of that so what patreon does is it’s a spot for me to put all of my longer form things things that aren’t going to do well on YouTube that kind of thing um but I wanted to do that in a really affordable way in a way that most people could generally afford with the lowest level being under a price the price of coffee um I’ve had the same prices for the last three plus years that I’ve been doing it so I am raising prices very slightly on on Friday but I wanted to tell you about that now because the prices are what they are now so right now it’s $3 to join but if you do it before Thursday so but if you do it today or tomorrow and you buy a yearly subscription so a yearly subscription for the member level at patreon is 3240 so $324 you will get that $3 minus 10% level for the entire year so I wanted to come on partially today to let you know about that before the prices increase and to kind of help balance out the fact that I’m doing that because yeah I got to put my mortgage and everything has gone up a ton as everybody knows on the back end some of my backend costs have gone up more than 50% in the last three years um so in any event to help balance that out I have a bunch I have a couple of courses my service dog 101 course and my behavior Interruption and alerts course and anyone who joins patreon from now on will get 15% all off of those courses so I have a patreon specific code if you’re interested in purchasing any of my courses you can join patreon for $3 right now um and then you can get 15% off of the course and that is in perpetuity for my patreon folks because my patreon folks and a lot of them are in the chat and I appreciate you so much you’re the ones that make it possible for me to do the public YouTube videos for me to be able to do the public lives um so that I can afford to do this basically so I appreciate you patreon folks so freaking much I can’t even tell you um okay I don’t want to get like cry again because I already did that in the other video and there’s only like so many times one can do that in a year before people stop like being interested in that all right so I’m gonna go back to questions but I just wanted to talk about that I’ll talk about it again at the end for those who join later on all right Prospect first and I’m not screening any of these questions so I’m just doing my best when you come on patreon too just like another I have a live Q&A on patreon it’s very different than this because people submit their questions prior to the event so I have time to really flush out a response and talk at length about each thing that someone has questions about so that’s the benefit of doing the q&as um on patreon it’s just like a longer more flushed answer um because I have time to to come up with it all right let’s see what else we got prospective uh PP words prospective firsttime service dog owner trainer we’re to start when looking training your service dog finding a trainer or finding a prospect breeder ah okay so this is a great question okay so next Friday I think I actually have an entire video coming out on how to find a trainer and what you should be looking for but part of my service dog 101 course it goes over how to find a breeder how to look at a prospect how to choose a dog um and also how to find a trainer all of those things are included in my service dog 101 course if you’re new to service dogs that course is like it’s not a training course on how to train a service dog it’s a training you course on how to move about the world with a service dog along with how to find the right dog and how to what a realistic training timeline is and I even have stuff in there on looking at testing for puppies and what I’m looking at when I’m testing puppies so if it’s within your means definitely get the service dog 101 course it’s going to go way more in depth on everything that you’re looking for and if you join patreon right now 15% off um so anyway that’s what I would do but if you if that’s not within the realm of your resources I do have a trainers um how to find a trainer coming up next Friday so good timing um okay tips on how to stop a two-month old pit that one’s not fully let’s see recommend a good source for learning to feed your dog natural made atome food both a source of recipes and also learning about fulfilling their nutritional needs I’m not the best person for that I do I just taped Omas so om Pride who I partner with that’s like my affiliate people that I’ve been feeding their raw food forever um I just taped a video on feeding raw food but as far as cooked natural food I don’t have a good resource for that probably a cooked food person or um I’m going to blank on the name for this but there are like certified veterinary nutritionist is that it certifi I like need to go to the bottom because people are saying things but then I’m gonna lose stuff oh my gosh um so I would talk to a vet nutritionist about that and you’re veterinarian um sorry I’m not not the one uh when should I start socializing a puppy Serenity Springer uh 3 days old um and you think I’m joking but not uh so when I’m looking at a breeder I am looking for a breeder that does ens early neurological stimulation that means they’re starting at three days old with some very very minor like stuff that helps with resiliency in puppies um but you as far as socialization go socialization again is this like broad category of things it’s like everyone thinks it’s just like greeting other dogs that’s not what it is it’s people places things substrates so ground underf footings noises all of that that starts immediately uh as soon as you get home but it should start in the breeder and I I cannot Hammer this home enough most of your dogs social like your early socialization window happens at your breeder so finding a good breeder that’s going to do those things is so important um uh forever dog yeah I’ve read the forever dog for sure uh sorry now I’m just like reading comments uh Anna my keyboard is sending the questions all right uh let’s see how do I find out where and how to get my dog tested for good oh good citizen yeah K9 good citizen certification if you go to the AKC website so I’m a AKC cgc evaluator um and I have had my dogs evaluated um if you go to the AKC website you can actually just um search for a trainer nearby I recommend if possible uh if it’s if you’re not in like a training desert and you don’t have to travel a long way to take a class so usually they’ll do like either a six week or a four-week class with the last class being your cgc I recommend doing that because it just gives you the opportunity for more distraction training around um other dogs do you know any service dog training programs in Brazil I do not but what I would do is go to Ada not Ada ADI assistant dog international.org and they might have programs um you can search by location there I believe I am teaching a pause up queue for pushing the button on the wall to open doors my boy will do this at home with a Post-It and and does great how do we transfer it out into the world oh great question okay so we’re teaching a pause up que and we want them to push button um so how are we transferring that we’ve already got it on a Post-It note brilliant so once we’re doing it well at home the next thing we’re going to do is you’re going to take that same color Post-It note and you’re going to go do it out in the world so you want to if you’ve taught it to this specific Target you bring that Target with you and you practice it out and about get yourself a spot like on a low like a low uh what words like when there’s not a lot of people around that’s the words I’m looking for um so when there’s not a lot of people around find a spot that you can practice so that you’re not going to feel watched or overwhelmed and it can even be as simple like it doesn’t even have to be a button that they’re pushing to start it can be like like my town hall is like vacant all the time so I’ll go there and Train sometimes so you could bring your Post-It note to the town hall and practice there or the library or whatever is something like that um all right yeah so just transfer bring your target I love targets love them uh so just bring them with you all right where do you find a good breeder that is a very complicated question um so yeah that’s a complicated question I probably can’t answer the oh I have a um I have a Blog on that hold on I’m gonna find it okay or you’re G to find it because it’s really easy so go to Doggy you.com go to my blog and the the top blog is actually on finding a breeder I’ve updated it for the service dog 101 course but it has some info on there um that’s going to give you some good ideas as to where to look for breeders Anna Budnick Atlas assistant Doug has a volunteer membership mentorship program yes I should have mentioned that when the person was talking about becoming a service dog trainer yeah that is a really good option um so you get a lot of Education and you volunteer and so that can be a great way to get Hands-On exposure thank you Anna that was great uh one-year-old mixed breed dog affection driven eager to please quick to learn dog is somewhat anxious particularly cautious around men how do to give exposure without trauma so it’s these the kind of things with like reactivity fear those things are difficult to give advice over the internet on without knowing the dog and the situation right so like I’m I’m so hesitant to do those sorts of things but I’m going to talk generally about this um we want to make sure that the dog is leading the way so one of the things that I see is people two things that can really screw this up is having strangers feed your dog so the dog gets too close to the person and they realize that they’re in a bad situation and now they’ve gotten closer than they want to just because they want to get the food um and now they’re more nervous um so we don’t want to do that and we don’t want to drag them up to people and overexpose them so I like to use like games like the engage disengage disengage game which I have a video on on YouTube uh just look up engag disengage doggu or on my channel um and I’ll use that as my exposure to men and go to a place where I might see men and when your dog looks at a man you click in reward and eventually when they see a man they click and turn they turn to you and you click and reinforce for that but we want the dog to drive the progress in that regard so but that is the kind of thing where I would try and get a trainers I experienced trainers eyes on that stuff uh how can you get hands on training experience before getting your own service dog if you don’t have a friend family M dog to work with yeah so that’s what I I think I said that that I was at the Human Society volunteer volunteer for a service dog program um there’s a lot of places like I just saw on like my local Town chat that there’s a service dog organization looking for people to raise dogs and it can be on a shortterm level so um get creative a lot of um you know Humane Society style organizations are looking for help um uh gjv said that they lost their dog on April 17th I’m so sorry um when do you start Task training my pup is nine months old and I’m just starting the beginning stages from your other videos great question I start the foundations for task training really early so targeting being one of those big skills that I start very early um but I don’t expect my dog to be responsible for tasks until they’re at least 8 months old um at least and it really depends on the dog and the human in that regard so you can start Task training now but it it’s a slip what I see sometimes is people will start Task training and then they’re expecting the dog to do those tasks out in public when they’re not emotionally mature enough to handle doing that so you just want to be careful about that but if it’s nine months and you want to start you know like what we’re talking about when we’re talking about being careful about task tra training is our expectations and the emotions involved in it so if it’s something where your emotions may affect the dog we are going to be very conservative with that if you want to teach the dog to turn on the lights not a lot of emotions hanging around that one you can turn you you can teach that a lot earlier um so what we’re being careful about is putting our expectations and emotions on the dog but otherwise it’s tricks right it’s like you know if it’s if it’s not that kind of stuff it’s like if it’s like more Mobility style stuff you know I’m going to teach my dog to retrieve pretty young I can certainly teach them to touch a button pretty young so nine months is totally fine for doing that um Cindy fear aggression definitely you need a trainer on board that’s not something that I can do over the Internet um getting a trainer on board um for a dog with fear aggression towards human males definitely yeah that’s sorry above above the internet’s payg grade um how to teach a service dog to defend herself in case it is attacked by other dogs we teach our service dog to defend ourselves um so defensive behavior is not allowed for service dogs it would be much more to your benefit to learn how to one try not to put yourself in situations where you’re going to get attacked by other dogs but it happens all the time so to protecting yourself so teaching your dog to get behind you bringing spray um citronella spray the spray at the dog air air air horn or umbrella and then conditioning your dog to all of those things so would be more about you learning to defend your dog than your dog defending themselves because that we don’t want dog fights in general um do you know anything about sick pets from commercial pet food issues or is it not what it seems pet food I’m not gonna touch that one um that’s that’s not my specialty that’s a vet so I would go with a vet on that one all I can talk about here on this channel is what I personally feed my dogs um worried about either doing too much or not enough shaping and training with my three-month old puppy he’s very smart because of my health it’s hard a few times a day what’s the best thing at this age yeah I mean I’m always worried about under or overdoing anything so so you’re you’re in good good hands there but um so if your health doesn’t allow for a few times a day then it doesn’t allow for a few times a day um so doing it once a day when possible great you may need to supplement with a trainer if they if you are having multiple Health days in a row um you know bad Health days in a row um or thinking about what training can look like so a lot of people are always like oh I’m gonna like get my treats out and I’m gonna do my training and I’m gonna do it for a while but like could training look like I’m gonna do two hand touches before I let you out into the backyard or I’m gonna have you sit and wait while I grab you a Kong or I’m gonna have you tuck under my wheelchair while I’m making dinner whatever it is so thinking about how training can be in orated instead of doing a training session might make it more doable for you and then also looking at other modifications for yourself so say bad health and and I don’t know your particular health condition but say your health condition means bending over is really hard today because blood pressure whatever okay can I put my dog up on an ottoman and I’m gonna sit on a chair and I’m gonna train from there can I just sit like is sitting better for my health can I train shaping all my shaping from seated today um so thinking about how you can make modifications to make it more possible for you to train in short bursts because when we’re talking about a three-month old puppy my ideal is training for two to three minutes at a time so yeah um Maryann hello um let’s see ah oh my gosh now I’ve like lost [Music] it uh how do you train your Serv do not to beg for food table food when the Handler is eating yeah so that’s like a complicated question but well first don’t start by feeding your dog from the table one of the things that I’ve done in the past so it really depends like are we talking at home because at home I like to manage this Behavior so that it doesn’t happen so like if I’m eating my dog is going to be eating but separately on their own C their own dinner or in their crate so that they’re not practicing this behavior um but you can also reinforce for resting away from you um but this one yeah it’s a little bit hard to without seeing the dog on that one and and what they’re actually doing um thank you for explaining your answer so thoroughly it gave me a lot of yay um would it be helpful to get a puppy train it for service work and then find someone in need who could you could almost donate it to that would not be my ideal way to do it just because the threshold for being able to become a service dog is like you need the right dog who are you going to get this dog from most breeders aren’t going to give you you a dog just as a non- trainer to then give to somebody else um so it’s much better to train with a program and a lot of programs like guide dog programs I know several guide dog programs that have um hotpots throughout the country where people are training the dogs together and they’re not even necessarily in the location that the guide dog school is so I would definitely go through a school where you’re going to get more support any new developments on your puppy so if you’re on patreon and you listen to the most recent Q&A is some info in there it’s not a ton of info but I don’t have any public info yet um you know and when I do have more info my patreon folks and L and then I will eventually do a video about it but I’m trying very hard not to count chickens before they hatch because I got burned last time not burned the situation didn’t work out last time and so I’m like very nervous about uh yeah talking about it until it’s like until there are actually like babies and puppies on the ground um can you tell the difference between a service dog and emotional support dog I mean not from looking at them no um I think what you mean here is what is the difference so service dogs have Public Access rights emotional support dogs don’t have Public Access rights emotional support dogs are covered under the FHA um fair housing act so they have the ability to be accommodated in your household they don’t have the right to go with you to a restaurant uh service dogs have the ability to go to most but not all public places with you um there are a few exceptions to that um where they might not be allowed if they fundamentally uh change the nature of the service but it’s very few and far between we’re talking like a section of the zoo potentially or on a ride at Disneyland but then they have other accommodations um Beck and Ryder can’t wait to see your next course come out yeah I do have plans for courses I just kind of need a puppy to show you how to do the things so we’re just waiting on that best Airlines for travel with a service dog yeah um I’ve traveled on pretty much all the airlines with the service sock I don’t have a best one uh necessarily and honestly I haven’t flown recently um gosh I haven’t flown in a long time so um so yeah I don’t have one on that I I’ve had bad experiences and good experiences on a bunch of different airlines uh I absolutely loved your video you did with service dog puppy Osa a few years ago do you plan to make a video similar to this when you see oh I’m gonna make so many videos like you guys are gonna be sick of this puppy like I have so just so you know what my life is like I have like big projects that I’m working on that are outside the scope of YouTube and I have like purposely ended those projects for when I think I might be getting a dog like my entire life is going to be devoted to helping so obviously training and raising my puppy but also trying to get that content out to you so you can see what it’s like to raise a dog from start to finish like that that is my goal that’s what I want to be doing on this channel is showing you from day one what I’m doing showing you the things that go wrong showing the mistakes that I make and then showing you the things that are going well and how I’m doing it um yeah so that’s that’s the goal so so it’s G to happen eventually and someday I will have a puppy freaking can everyone just like cross their fingers for me and like think like like estris thoughts so I can get a puppy that would be great um all right I gotta wrap it up here soon I’m just gonna scroll through these really quick to see if there’s some like hot ones I can answer real quick um this one’s about Collies for service dog work um I’ve only trained a few Collies they’ve been really soft so it wouldn’t be my preferred dog but I know people that really love them for service work so I don’t think I have enough experience to to comment on that uh is it okay to train a rescue dog to be a service dog sure if they have the right temperament yeah but if you’re looking at rescues like so my preference is not rescues I know that’s makes a lot of people upset um but after doing what I do and knowing what I know getting a dog that’s from parents that are Health tested is just the I’m trying to stack every single card in my favor so you know without even just saying like talking to you all as people that are training dogs talking to myself I’m trying to stack every single card in my favor because I know what it looks like when it goes wrong and I know how heartbreaking that is so I want to get and by stacking all the cards I mean Health tested parents parents that I’ve have temperament tested and learned you know know that are good dogs that I know that are producing quality animals that are can be used for service dogs I can’t know that from a rescue that all being said if you’re going to go rescue route get an adult that you know the temperament of if possible at least do a DNA test Foster to adopt uh you want to get as much information about this dog as possible because most most dogs are not suitable for service work and then what happens when that dog isn’t and you need to have a plan for that um just food for dogs company is excellent Nature Good super from Canada ah I lost it again oh my gosh there’s too many I need like a person like a helper person uh Public Access test let’s see uh is there a breed you think should be more popular for service work can small working breeds be used for service work should be more popular Labs I am so sick of people telling me that they don’t want a dog they don’t want to lab because they are not cool enough or too many people have them or whatever I am I’m sorry like that’s my little rant for the day people like I get so many questions like well I don’t want the breed everyone has look there’s a reason everyone has the bre it’s CU it freaking works that’s why they have it because it works and if your goal in life is to have a dog that can help you with your health your first priority should be a dog that’s going to be able to do that sorry yes other dogs can be service dogs I’ve got one it’s a guess what I’m not getting again a right she was not intended for service work it just happened right like so I my health issues happened once I already had her would I have chosen this dog no absolutely not she’s sensitive she’s lovely I love her she’s worked out fantastically for me and also not the breed I will get again right okay so I know that wasn’t your question I’ve just gotten so many questions this week about like better cooler dogs that people can use for no sorry now can small dogs working breeds be used for service work absolutely yes 100% there I don’t have as much experience with small dogs I’ve trained several um for different things like I like I had this like lovely little shitsu that we did go get help work for this older gentleman with um so I have trained smaller dogs for service work I don’t have as much experience as I do with German Shepherds and labs and stuff like that um but yeah absolutely small dogs absolutely can be service dog for sure uh you just have to like be a little bit more cautious because they can get stepped on more easily in a lot of ways um uh would you recommend Atlas dog trainer trainers particularly online since they won’t be um I’m an atlas trainer so I you know I yes I recommend atlas’s assistance dog program and also every person is different and you need to find a trainer that works for what you’re doing so don’t just take any recommendation from some Rando online um you know actually talk to the trainer and learn about them the video that’s coming out on next Friday will be helpful for that what country do I live in United States I live in the US uh I have an Autism and have a service dog his name is Buddy oh buddy was the first German Shepherd guide dog here in the US um you’ve taught me so much about service dogs I would like to oh thank you so much Matthew I appreciate that um our service dogs allowed everywhere everywhere no they are not this is a misconception so there are places service dogs can’t go um for instance like I said certain parts of zoos um places religious establishments are in the US are not required to let your service St in um burn units like places where you’re going to fundamentally through the nature of what’s going on um but you can you like you can go to a hospital but you can’t go to the Burn Unit whatever um so there are places that they are not allowed and there’s also places that you shouldn’t bring your dog because it’s potentially dangerous for them so thinking about that too um okay uh where do I go to join oh to join patreon cool patreon.com doggy you sorry I probably should have put that in there okay so let me talk about that again I got to wrap it up because my brother-in-law is to come over and help me with the lawn so that I can buy a new lawn mower this weekend but right now I have like a meadow like look it I got like a meadow going on over here um but the bees are loving it so it’s great okay sorry I got distracted and now I’m thirsty C all right y’ so I just want to talk one last time for those of you that are joining first if you’ve joined and you haven’t hit that like button please do it for me it really helps me I appreciate it um and that’s true of all my videos anytime that you comment and like and do all that um it really really helps me so if like with video distribution I’m trying to get a wirer viewership so anything you can do on the comments end even if it’s just like leaving me a little heart or like letting me know that you watched it great love it and I love to see who’s coming back and watching them um oh okay so let me talk about patreon so someone asked if you do the $3 membership do you have access to all your videos so the $3 a month membership the member level you have access to everything except for the Deep dive so basically it goes like this there’s the member level the crew level and then the Inner Circle and then top fan so member level right now is $3 it’s going to be going up to $4 on Friday um so if you want to get in on it yeah so for the whole Spiel is basically prices are going up slightly on Friday if you want to get in on it now you can join now at for the year-long membership and get 10% off current pricing for the year right um so at that at member level you get access to everything so you get access to the live streams you get access to I have over 150 videos on there the PDFs I have a new puppy um setting your puppy up for Success I’ve been working really hard on the back end over here on a new um basically like 25 Page Long like how to get started with your puppy thing so that’s going to be available at the end of the month um all of that for the $3 level at the crew level so that’s the next level up you can ask a question for the Q&A so basically the difference between member and crew is that every month for if you’re a crew member you can ask a question for the Q&A you ask it several days beforehand I prepare for it and then we talk about it at the Q&A the live um but if you’re a member member you still get access to all of those lives all past lives then at the Inner Circle level that’s where you can ask a question at the Q&A or for the Q&A and also get access to my deep Dives so deep Dives are like 30 to 45 minutes sometimes an hour sometimes 75 minutes if I talk too much um but that’s where you’re going to see like my three-part retrieve series um guide dog I have some gu dog stuff on there I have a couple videos of me like comparing and contrasting puppies and picking a puppy um so a bunch of different stuff I have one this month so on Tuesday of next week I’m going to be doing a deep dive on running a dog trading business and the things that I’ve learned over the years and tips so that you don’t have to make mistakes like I’ve made in the past um so that’s your Deep dive and that’s your inner circle level so once you get to Inner Circle level and then top fan is currently the only way that you can have so right now I have private CL training clients that I’ve been working with for a long time um a few of them left but I’m kind of finishing everyone up and now the only way to get like customized feedback from me is through that top fan level where you could submit a three-minute video of your training every month and then you’re going to get direct feedback from me of um to help you troubleshoot or see what’s going on um with that so that’s top fan level it also has some other perks like uh like I just got in some really fun note cards and some stickers that I’m going to send out and you get a T-shirt and all sorts of stuff so those are the different levels um and you can always upgrade level so if you want to start at the $3 level and you want to bump it up because you see something cool that you like um then you can always do that and you can always downgrade so if you’re like all right this month I really want to see this deep dive live great and then next month I downgrade it’s totally totally up to you and it’s on a monthly basis unless you go with the year subscription where you get 10% off and for those of you that didn’t hear it in the middle of this thing um because I clps throwing balls at that means it’s time to go um so basically that means that um anybody who joins patreon is going to get a code for 15% off all of my courses so if you’ve been thinking about purchasing my courses you if you join patreon at the any level you will get 15 the B you’ll get 15% off my courses um and that is in perpet as a thank you to my patreon folks um yeah because I can’t do it without you I really can’t like I just like I am just so grateful to all of you there’s more than 700 of you over on patreon um and it’s turning into a really fun community and I hope you all are enjoying it as much as I am because I’m I’m having a really good time um so any Hoops I think that’s it I’m G to check uh the bottom here um I’m really enjoying your content thanks Mike so happy to have found your channel yay thank you yeah and and like I said even if you can’t support the channel financially sharing my videos liking commenting letting me know you’re watching them all of that is going to be like it’s it’s very helpful for the channel um and the more I like from a just from a business perspective like I’m doing all the things myself I’ve recently have someone come on who can help me with a little backend stuff but the more people that I can get you know more the bigger the channel gets the more I can get more help which means I can get more videos out both on YouTube and on uh patreon uh oh someone said working cocker spaniels are beautiful and perfect for metal kill yeah I if if I wasn’t getting one of the top three um service dogs and I wanted a little dog I’d be looking at cockers for sure they’re just fun little dogs but all right everyone that is it for me I hope you enjoyed it thank you so much and uh yeah look for a video I don’t have a video coming out next Friday oh thank you for joining Cindy I appreciate it um I don’t have a video this Friday but you’ll have a new video next Friday um and yeah for my patreon folks the Q&A is up from this week so you can listen to that right away and the new deep dive is on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. eastern time thanks y’all love y’all all right bye …
