Develops your Dog’s Hidden Intelligence Click Here 👈
hey guys in this video we’re going to be introducing the touch command which is going to be on this right here to my puppy Burley why it’s going to be helpful why it has utility and use when you’re starting to do Advanced obedience and when you start doing heal work outside so that’s what we’re going to be working on we’re also going to cover really briefly some power steering and how to get your dog to move with you some rear end awareness which is your dog moving with you that’s why it looks fancy when you get a dog that moves with you we’re going to talk about all that development skills right now here in this video all right so the equipment I have the no bad dog treat pouch I have my no bag dog training leash and we have like a I call it like a trough Bowl you get this at uh Tractor Supply or any place that sells feed or stuff like that so it’s just a rubber bowl and it’s sturdy enough for the most part to hold him that’s what he’s going to be touching on this is going to be a little bit different from the place place is going to be all fours on you’re going to be staying there for longer periods of time the touch is for again rearend awareness so he moves his back end and it’s going to be really good for sending your dog away for so this is going to be really important in the future when I do some sort of protection work with my dog um I’m going to do individual commands for him to go to individual pieces of my family go to my wife go to my son stand in front of them the touchpad basically isolates a place where you can send your dog send your dog to a place and they stay there um it’s really good for positioning like if you wanted to get your heel really good you can say that the dog is going to be at your heels because they’re going to be right on this touch all right so we’re going to start with the touch command now in the beginning what you want to do is is do it very simple so the first time your dog gets up you’re going to use your terminal marker which is going to be yes and then you’re going to break your dog off um and then as you keep going you’re going to use your duration or your keep going marker which is going to be good good good then yes then break or you could just do good good good break it’s really up to you and how you have everything um together brely touch yes okay break now we’re going to do the duration marker or the keep going marker which is going to be good good good pain as in duration in position this is funny about bore bbls they’re very suspicious of things they don’t know so you’ll see him do that yes I didn’t ask him to do that so I’m going to pay that all right now we’re going to do this again touch good touch good so the duration marker is just keep going good we’re not done yet bud good I want them to stay there if you guys watched my first video when we started this we worked on engagement so if you guys see good good good this is something we worked on good a couple months ago or a month ago good yes good okay break we’re going to break him off for that so that’s really important guys if you haven’t watched that video you can check it out up here but really just engaging right so he can break right now I told him break and I gave him his terminal marker of yes he’s choosing not to so I could come back over I I I want this is this is the point of markers this is the point of training is right now he’s like why would I get off this is where I get paid so he’s staying here that’s kind of the beauty of obedience that’s kind of getting your dog working for you so you guys can practice it at home I would do that for about a day and just change it up and so what that looks like is getting your dog to touch yes off getting your dog to touch good good good good off don’t make it so continual you want to randomize your sequence so we’re going to get into the rear end awareness which is a lot of fun um this is where you start to see dogs do a bunch of fancy stuff uh and start to move the rear end around and move with you we’ll put up a little video of Lota doing that so you get an idea this is where you start that touch good touch now the objective here guys is for him to move his back legs these need to move okay so what we’re going to do is we’re going to make it uh so awkward for him to look at me that if he moves his back end he gets paid and then we’re going to start seeing these back end and his back end move around a lot more so we’re going to come this way this is something that you guys could start power steering on um we’re not there yet we’re going to go the introduction today in today’s episode but what we’re going to do is we’re going to start doing this good yeah good good good that’s a good keep going command his back end moved just a little bit I have never done this with him this is his very first session I Sav this so if he moves those back legs yes good okay Breck good if he moves those back legs he’s going to get paid and again the objective is for you guys watching right now we have a dog here we move and their back end follows you so it’s called rear end awareness it’s really good for bigger dogs anyway to access their back end build muscle uh and all that stuff but it’s going to be really good when we start doing some fancier heel work in the future so he’s back on there um because he doesn’t want to leave because this is where he gets paid so now we’re just going to go the other way you’ll notice that your dog is going to have a weaker side than the other uh and a more dominant side and make sure you’re not super close to your dog try to get away good be so this is probably his weaker side let’s go this side that he did he moved a little bit for us here yeah good good A little bit of motion there and then good boy good you guys saw that little motion there I want to give you guys a a trick I’ve never seen anybody do this so I don’t want to say that I’ve I’m the creator of this I’ve never seen anybody do this I’m sure other people have but let me give you a trick and a little tip here all right so what you’re going to do is you’re going to get a leash I have a slip leash here and I’m just going to Loop it into his back end and I’m going to hook it onto his back end this isn’t necessary guys at all um if if you don’t want to do this but this is something that I have found to be helpful when I did it with Lakota 8 years ago so he’s going to probably be distracted by this for a moment touch so you have your food out he’s going to be distracted by that in the beginning but you have your food out here good and you start moving good good I don’t if you guys saw that but he did it on his own little bit of leash pressure on that rear end barely good you don’t want it to be too distracting and if it does that’s fine you got to know when to quit your battles here you guys could try that um you can also have another person with a long line from the other end kind of pushing that butt over and it just expedites the process but he’s going to get too distracted by that which is fine so we do this again get a piece of food out yes good freak so I I did a break right there just because he moved his back end and hopefully by the end of this session he’ll be moving that a lot better okay we’re going to do it again good touch good yo good good look at that yes good yes good good job freck this is going to have a lot of utility outside of something some of the things I already talked about but I want to be able to move and the dog just moves this way and then the dog moves that way and they just track you it just becomes this beautiful thing if you don’t do this your dog’s not going to be able to do that cuz they’re just they don’t know how to access that rear end it’s pretty interesting good you want to try to keep his feet in the center of the pad so he doesn’t fall off so as you come out good try to keep your food here and then over good I feel like for him if I go out and wide it’s helpful good Burly good Burly yes good good thing about this treat pouch is I can yeah good his attention back up you guys can get this tree pouch and this leash in the description below when you guys are doing this touch work I would do it for maybe 5 minutes give your dog a break five minutes give your dog a break five minutes give your dog a break and also switch it up like don’t stay in the continual Loop uh I find that when dogs get into Loops they have expectations and I personally don’t like to have my dogs have expectations I want them to just listen to my voice and what I say that’s creates that whole circus of the s the down the place the roll over the spin the Paw what you really want is to compartmentalize and randomize each thing so that’s going to be your homework for that and then now we’re going to just briefly go over the introduction to power steering which is basically teaching a dog to eat out of your hand and that that gives you a ton a ton of utility to start moving your dog around for other healing exercises in the future um it’s pretty easy there’s just some fine-tune things that we’ll go over to make sure you do it right see how he doesn’t go go towards the food with intensity uh he is a Boral which is a Masti so he’s not a malinoa or Shepherd or a terrier or healer so he doesn’t have a lot of intensity and fast movements but what I want them to do is stay connected to this food when I this is the first thing I’m going to do and just driving in straight lines having the dog work good now your food placement and the food that you use is really important or at least it could be detrimental to how successful this is I like using uh big pieces of food like just a nice chunk like this getting the food out and then just luring the dog good so how I’m holding it is like this have a piece of food close it like this and then good in the beginning just take it slow good and you just want to start building that contact good good and at the end yes pop it in their mouth so when we talk about power steering it’s essentially I it’s a term that I have adopted for my friend Forest Mickey who does a lot of competitive healing this isn’t going to be a competitive dog although I do want some power steering with him which is essentially moving the dog with your hand or the dog moving itself through the hand so you take your piece of food like this and the important thing is is like don’t don’t bend your whole arm like this although you could what what what we do is we hold our arm out kind of not Bend our elbow and we just turn our hand and we want the dog to to want the dog’s head to follow our hand once he gets good at RAR end awareness and he follows my hand this way this is going to start to swing and you’re going to be able to power steer your dog so basically the dog is here you turn your hand and the whole body moves like this and the butt just swings yes good and I paid right there so I’m basically doing the same exact principle that we did on the touch pad I’m just using it with the hand so the dog is to come chase the food like we worked on I start to turn my hand so that was my fault there I shouldn’t have done that so don’t do this try to take your hand and turn your wrist yes good yes good so this is the very very very preliminary stages of doing this so we turn our wrist and the rear end of the dog we want to move with our wrist that way when we come this way the dog is going to come out like this when we turn this way the dog is going to turn like this so the very first principles of how to do this now what we’re going to do in the future to put this together for you guys to kind of see the objective here really touch is we put a touch on like this and then guess what we take our wrist and we start power steering and the dog will start to spin the rear end right he doesn’t know how to do that yet cuz it’s just the introduction so as we progress with this moving on to the next couple weeks with the dog I’m giving you guys pretty much a weekly update of what I’m working on with him still haven’t done down still haven’t done sit cuz right now it doesn’t matter to me so taking that wrist spinning power steering the dog will start to move I’m going to show you guys what it looks like with the train dog so you can see what the final product is this is Darby he’s a staff dog Derby Target his touch is Target okay watch his rear end awareness here guys see that yes good that’s what we’re working on with Burley right now Burley doesn’t know how to move those back legs once you start training this on a trained dog those legs start to move perfect Now power steering Tom why are we doing this driving for food in our hand why are we doing this show you good power steering power steering good when we bring it out here it’s going to look like this good Target so you a lot of people ask me how I did the left command with Lakota which I tell her left she’s right here very simple power steering in touch the dog’s here left yes and I pay do it again left yes and I pay it’s the same thing we’re going to be doing with Burley once he gets old enough to do that right now he’s a little over four months so he’s just not at that point yet but this is what that looks like with a train dog see this nice good we do it on this touchpad because it’s easy Once the dog is trained we move it out good and we start all this fancy OB obedience Target when I train Lakota and you guys see her work everyone always ask me how I got there you’re going to be able to go back on this video and say how did Tom get Burley to this point or even how did I get Lakota to that point doing the same exact stuff so I know it’s not this big behavioral thing but it is a crucial step in my puppy training with my dog I hope you guys like this video if you have make sure you leave a comment let me know if you like this leave a like share it with your friends on Facebook and other platforms to continue to educate people about how to train their dog in a different way good job burle all right [Music] …
